Spiced Warming Winter Tea
This tea is designed to enkindle the agni (the digestive fire, metabolism) during winter - balanced agni means balances dhatus (tissues) and robust immunity and strong ojas (vitality). The warming spices help:
support digestion (“agni” / digestive fire)
reduce mucus and congestion
improve circulation and warmth
calm heaviness and sluggishness
Ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper gently stimulate circulation and clear stagnation, while fennel and cardamom keep the blend soothing rather than overly heating.
Ingredients (1–2 cups)
2 cups water
½ tsp fresh grated ginger (or a few slices)
1 cinnamon stick
½ tsp fennel seeds
2–3 black peppercorns (lightly crushed)
1–2 cardamom pods (crushed)
Optional: ½ tsp turmeric + pinch of black pepper
Optional: raw honey (added after brewing, not while hot)
Method
Add all spices (except honey) to water in a small pot.
Bring to a gentle boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
Strain into a cup.
Once slightly cooled (warm, not hot), add honey if desired.
