Ananda Wellness provides integrated mental health and wellness care for individuals and families. The clinic is led by Sri Lankan Australian mental health counsellor and Ayurvedic practitioner with professional experience in Australia, Sri Lanka and globally. Niveen is a Masters trained Mental Health Counsellor, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant, Reiki Healer, Yoga & Meditation teacher and Wellness Coach, trained in both Indian and Sri Lankan approaches to Ayurveda and classical Hatha yoga. She specialises in aligning mental health, yoga, meditation & mindfulness with Ayurvedic principles to address specific health concerns.

Niveen is also trained in strategic business management and marketing with 7+ years of experience in social research, consumer & brand research and client management across Australia, the US and Sri Lanka.

When she’s not at her clinic in Melbourne, or supporting social and community service workers and Asylum Seeker Clients in the North West or teaching yoga & meditation/mindfulness classes, Niveen frequently runs workshops on:

— Mental health and mindfulness, stress management, motivation & management of creative output

Everyday life and wellness coaching

— Yoga & Guided meditation and visualisation sessions

Ayurvedic philosophy and practical applications (seasonal wellness, specific health topics e.g. digestion, skin and personal care)

She provides counselling and Reiki Healing sessions through multiple channels. In person at the Fairfield clinic or for those interstate or overseas there are online or telephone / distant healing sessions available. Counselling can help overcome challenges with depression and anxiety, workplace stress, difficulties with family & personal relationships, grief & loss, trauma, cultural & social adjustment and more. The therapeutic models and approaches used include a combination (as needed) of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), schema, narrative and mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT). Couple and Relationship Therapy is available. Brief/short-term and long term interventions as well as crisis counselling options can be explored.

Niveen is also trained and skilled in the application of the Psychoneuroimmunology Therapy approach which is an excellent treatment modality for managing chronic conditions such as mood disorders, pain, sleep disorders, inflammatory disorders and trauma. In her work with MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) she offers interventions in both 1:1 or Group settings, which is useful in managing depression, depression relapse and burnout prevention and recovery.

As a Monash University Alumnus, Niveen has also participated in Monash Uni’s Student Mentoring Program, offering her knowledge and experience in mentoring a small number of final year students at the end of their courses and in planning for their careers. In particular she has worked with students with an interest in Counselling, Nutrition and Wellbeing.

As a speaker and facilitator, Niveen works across the Private Corporate as well as Not for Profit Sector, having run sessions for organisations such as The Climate Council, Yoga Australia, The Foundation for Young Australians, The Australian Greens Party, Mecca Cosmetica, Fonterra Australia, The Wheeler Center, Alfred Hospital, Laneway Learnings, Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance, JMC Academy, Express Media, ZONTA, Knight Frank, and events including The Bendigo Yoga Festival, The National Editors and Writers Conference and more.
